Page 2, Column 5Katherine Goesling was born in Prussia, Germany, Jan. 26, 1847, and died September 15, 1929, aged 82 years, 7 months and 19 days. When about seven years of age she came with her parents to America, crossing the ocean in a sail boat and was fourteen weeks in crossing.
They lived two years at Lockport, New York, moving from there to Burlington, Iowa.
On February 13, 1864, she was united in marriage to Henry Klein at Burlington and moved to a farm north of Burlington. In 1882 they moved to Madison county, Iowa, then 12 years later into Murray.
On October 29, 1912 her husband passed away. To Mr. and Mrs. Klein were born ten children, five of whom preceded her in death. Those living are Charles of Ramah, Col., Herman H. and Jennie of Murray, Mrs. R. J. Dutton of Denver, Col., and Mrs. G. O. Dutton of Truro; 8 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, one brother, Albert H. Goesling of Griswold, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Shuff of West Burlington, Iowa.
Mrs. Klein was confirmed in the Evangelical faith at the age of fourteen, in which she lived till called away by death.
Funeral service was conducted from the home in Murray by A. J. Carrick of Savannah, Mo., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 2:00 o’clock, after which the body was taken to Union church cemetery and laid to rest beside that of her husband.
