Robert "Bob" Hiatt of Ridgecrest, Calif., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, in Lancaster, Calif.
Robert Lyle Hiatt was born in Winterset on July 29, 1942, to Morris W. Hiatt and Marcella M. (Christensen) Hiatt. Bob was raised in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School in 1959. He was called "Lyle" until he entered the U.S. Marines. He entered the U.S. Marines shortly after graduating. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He was an MP and left the Marines after eight years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joy.
He is survived by his five siblings, Terry Hiatt, Esther Hiatt Cook, Ruth Ann Kiddoo, Chuck Hiatt and Curt Hiatt; three children, Lyle Wayne, Kyle and Tracy; five step children, Bobby, Lance, Scott, Becky and Dustin; 27 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
