Page 5, Column 2Benjamin Harrison Irwin was born November 6, 1888 near Truro, Madison county, Iowa. In 1889 he moved with his parents to the present homestead in Virginia township, Warren county, which has since been his home.
He was married June 4, 1913, to Catherine Gleckler. To this union two children were born, James William aged four years, and Martha Elizabeth aged two years.
He graduated from the New Virginia high school in 1908. Was a member of Neophyte Lodge No. 301, A.F. & A.M. He was converted in 1905 at the age of 17 years, and united with the Methodist church May 27, 1906, and has been a faithful member ever since.
After much patient suffering he left us for the home beyond on Tuesday morning, November 12, 1918, at the age of 30 years and six days.
Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday, November 13th, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Critchett, and the remains laid to rest in the New Virginia cemetery.
