Page 3, Column 4Eliza James was born in Rush county, Indiana, Oct. 13, 1831.
She moved to Madison county, Ind., with her parents when a child and resided near Anderson until the spring of 1855, when the family moved to Madison county, Iowa. She was married to Chas. Rice, of Chester, Ohio, Feb. 12, 1858. The moved to the farm in Warren county where she spent the remainder of her life. To this union was born four children, Maria, Jeannette and William, who resided in the home with her and Mrs. Mary Eckles.
She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in early life and later on united with the United Brethren church at Mt. Hope school house and lastly she united with the Spring Hill Baptist church, the U.B. church having disbanded.
She died with an unfaltering trust in Christ as her Savior, June 26, 1910, aged seventy-eight years, eight months and thirteen days. A good mother has gone to rest, mourned by all who knew her.
Funeral services by Rev. S. W. Lee, were at the residence June 27, with interment in the Indianola cemetery.
