TWO MEN IN FAMILY DIE SUNDAY, JULY 17

Double Funeral Services Are Held for John Brant and Joe Brant

A double funeral was held at the Baptist church, in Lorimor, Tuesday afternoon, July 19th, at 2:30 for Joe Brant of Lorimor, and his foster son, John Brant, of the St. Charles neighborhood. Both died Sunday, July 17th.

The son took critically ill over a week ago with appendicitis, and he was taken to the Osceola hospital, where he was operated upon Saturday. However, it was said that the appendix had previously ruptured, and he died from the effects of the operation, and from an attack of peritonitis. Mr. Brant was thirty seven years of age. As a boy, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brant, and made his home with time until the time of his marriage.

He is survived by his four children, Walter, William, John, Junior, and the baby, Marie, his wife, his mother, and his foster mother.

The elder Mr. Brant also died Sunday. He was at his home in Lorimor, at the time of his death. He had been in California, during the winter, and had returned to Lorimor this spring. He had been in poor health for several months and was unconscious at the time of his son’s death. He was sixty-nine years of age. He is survived by his wife.

Both men were buried in the Lorimor cemetery.

To this union five children were born: William H., Freda L., John Junior, Walter Gordon, and an infant Marie Ethel; all are living except Freda, who preceded him in death six months.

John took very sick on July 10th and passed away July 17th at the Harken hospital at Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 37 years, 11 months and 6 days.
