Rites Wednesday For Raleigh Howe

Resident Of County 50 years Died Monday At Age 64 Years

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon in Osceola for Raleigh E. Howe, 64-year-old resident of Clarke county for 50 years, who died Monday at his home here.

Rev. Azel L. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate at the services to be held a 2 o’clock in the Webster Funeral home. Burial will be in Longview cemetery here.

The son of Eugene and Imo Ellis Howe, he was born Nov. 3, 1893 in Madison county, Iowa. He was educated in the Madison and Clarke county schools.

On Dec. 14, 1921, he was united in marriage with Flo Green at Indianola.

Mr. Howe was a farmer by occupation during most of his adult life. For the past six years he had been employed by Dr. George Lewis, Osceola veterinarian.

He was a member of the Methodist church and of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Surviving are his widow, a sister, Mrs. Beulah McComas of Osceola; three brothers, Ray of Osceola, Leo of Indianola, and Marlon of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl, in 1918.

Raleigh Howe

Raleigh E. Howe, son of Eugene E. and Imo G. Howe, was born in Madison county, Iowa, November 3, 1893 and departed this life at his home in Osceola, Iowa, May 19, 1958 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 16 days.

He spent most of his life farming in Clarke county except the last six years which were spent as an employee of Dr. George Lewis. He has been a Modern Woodman member for a number of years. While still a young lad he united with the Frame Methodist church which was located in his old home neighborhood.

He leaves a son and daughter by a former marriage to Leona Simms. He was united in marriage to Flo Green on December 14, 1921, at Indianola, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife Flo, a sister Beulah McComas; three brothers, Ray of Osceola, Leo of Indianola and Marion of Marshalltown; five brothers-in-law, Lue, Ray, Marion and Clarence Green and Floyd McComas; sisters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His father, mother, and one brother Earl preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon May 21, in the Webster Funeral home. Rev. Azel L. Smith officiated and music was by Amy Ruth Harlan and Emil Rinderspacher. Burial was in Longview cemetery here.
