Leo P. Howe, son of Eugene E. and Imo G. Howe was born in Madison county, Iowa, May 9, 1901 and departed this life at his home in Indianola, Iowa, August 11, 1958, at the age of 57 years, 3 months and 2 days.

A resident of Indianola, Ia., since 1943, Mr. Howe died of a heart ailment after several months illness.

He spent much of his live farming in Warren and Clarke counties. After moving to Indianola, he was employed by a local grocery firm and in more recent years as maintenance engineer at the municipal light plant.

He was united in marriage to Lela Hadley on October 6, 1921, at Des Moines, Iowa. To this union were born five daughters and two sons. One daughter, Donna Marie, died in infancy. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Earle and Raleigh.

He is survived by his widow, Lela and six children: Pauline Durr of Sandyville, Helen Stearns of Woodburn, Loren of West Des Moines, Geraldine Smith of New Virginia, Marvin of Des Moines, and Marilyn Conklin of Des Moines. Also 18 grandchildren, two daughters-in-law and four sons-in-law.

He also leaves to mourn their loss a sister, Beulah McComas of Osceola; two brothers, Ray of Osceola and Marion of Marshalltown, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a loving husband and devoted father putting the welfare of his family always above his own.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Overton Funeral home, burial at I. O. O. F. cemetery, Indianola, Iowa. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Paul Hadley with music by soloist Richard Vandervelde and organist Mrs. Charles Lodwick.
