Thomas H. Tucker was born in Culpepper county, Virginia, April 12, 1820. Moved from there in 1828, to Muskingdom county, near Zanesville, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. In 1842 removed to Guernsey county, where he remained until 1856, then came to Indianola, Ia. In 1857 located in Madison county. Was married to Miss Julia Taylor in 1861, January 24th. In 1878 removed to Warren county, White Oak township, and in 1892 to Indianola where he has since lived. Died Sept. 29, 1909, at the advanced age of eighty-nine years, five months and nine days.

His sickness was due to old age causing dropsy and was of some months duration and he bore it with great fortitude. Many times expressing the wish that he might go and be at rest, with an abiding faith that he was going home to heaven, where all his loved ones would meet him again. He leaves a devoted wife and two sons, Charles of this city, and Smith of White Oak township. Two children preceded him, John in infancy and his only daughter, Mrs. Kate Henson, who died March 12, 1908. Also nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Uncle Tom Tucker as he was familiarly called will be missed in the community where he has lived so long and on the streets where his genial presence was an inspiration to all with whom he came in contact.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o’clock at the home conducted by Dr. Chas. Eldred Shelton, assisted by Rev. E. M. Holmes.
