Page 1, Column 5Mary E. McGinnis, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J. B. McGinnis, was born in Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1863. When but three months of age her parents moved to Adair County settling near Louck’s Grove n Jefferson Township. Her father organized the Louck’s Grove church and gave the land where the church now sits. As a young woman she united with this church.
December 3, 1885, she was united in marriage to Omer H. Kirlin. To this union were born twelve children, four of whom preceded her in death.
For more than a year she has been in failing health and some six weeks ago, broke her hip. When taken to the hospital it was found she was suffering from the dread disease, cancer. She died at her home in Greenfield Oct. 23rd, 1936, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 15 days.
She is survived by her five sons: Allie of Greenfield, Ernest of Newton, Archie, Glen and Ivan of Greenfield; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Lewis of Stuart, Myrtle Hanson of St. Charles, and Lela Harrison of Winterset; one brother, John L. McGinnis of Greenfield; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hines of Pleasanton, Kansas; 21 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Loucks’ Grove church Oct. 25, 1936, conducted by the Rev. J. R. McNichols pastor of the Methodist church in Greenfield. Burial was made in the Louck’s Grove cemetery.
