Walter Martin, son of John H. and Johannah Ohrt Clausen, was born January 30, 1892 in Madison County, Iowa and passed away May 9, 1981 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.

He attended rural school at Penn Township #3 near the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter and in later years became a very active member, serving as elder, treasurer, and trustee.

On March 12, 1919 he as united in marriage to Alma Rose Pevestorf and three children were born to this union.

His entire life was spent farming except for the time he served his country in the armed forces during World War I. He retired from farming 25 years ago.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Alma and a daughter, Dorothy.

Surviving are his son Dale of Denison, Iowa; his daughter Georgine Hennings of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother Richard Clausen of Dexter; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The Rev. Norman Luecht officiated at the funeral service on May 12, 1981 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa. Mrs. Paul Clausen provided the organ music and accompanied the congregational singing. Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Harold Schwenneker and Mrs. Richard Marsh. Casket bearers were Steven Clausen, David Clausen, Christopher Clausen, Rick Weiss, Patrick Kapaun, and Dennis Scar. Interment was in Dexter cemetery following military services by the American Legion Post #419.
