Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Nov. 20, 1951 from the Casey Methodist church for Harry G. Egger, 56, who died suddenly at his home near Winterset Friday, Nov. 16. Rev. Kight of the Webster Methodist church conducted the services. Rev. T. Jacob of Casey assisted.

Mrs. Ernie Siedelmann and Mrs. Carl Anderson had charge of the flowers. Burial was made in Casey Oakwood cemetery with full military honors given by the Winterset Post, assisted by the Casey Post.

Harry Gilbert Egger, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Egger, Sr., was born April 26, 1895 in Walnut township, Adair county and passed away at his farm home in Madison county near Winterset, Iowa at the age of 56 years, six months and 21 days.

Harry spent all of his life in and around Adair county except three years in California.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and good neighbor. He was always ready to do kindnesses for anyone in any way he could.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Kite Post American Legion of Casey.

In this unit he had served as Commander, Post Adjutant and County Adjutant. After moving to Madison county he transferred his membership to the Winterset Unit.

As a young man he united with the Methodist church in Casey and later changed his membership to the Webster Methodist church near his home.

In June 1918 he was united in marriage to Georgia Mae Johnson of Creston. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive except Dean, who was killed in Italy while serving in World War II. He remarried in July 1936 to Doris Booth Dahly of Redtop, Mo. To this union one son, Gilbert Harry was born.

He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife Doris and son Gilbert at home and two stepsons Charles and Grant Dahly of whom he tenderly reared and were at his side when he passed away.

He leave to mourn a son Robert and a daughter Margaret Masonhumer both of California, a son Joe of Nebraska and daughter Ann Boss of Menlo and six grandchildren; also his aged mother Hannah Egger of Casey, three brothers and two sisters, Arthur Egger and Lillie Siedelmann of Dexter, Henry J. Egger and Dottie Alberts of Stuart and Edward of Casey. Also two aunts, Hattie Telkamp of Casey and Lottie Grant of Newton and one uncle George Egger of Ava, Mo. His father Henry Egger passed away in 1934, also one brother John in 1944.
