Page 1, Column 4Jonathan Albert McGinnis, fifth son of Jonathan B. and Rebecca McGinnis, was born in Madison County, Iowa, Dec. 4, 1853 and died at his home in Jefferson Twp., January 7, 1932, at two p.m., aged 78 years, 1 month and 3 days.
He moved with his parents to Jefferson twp., Adair County, in March 1863, and with the exception of 18 years spent in Adams County, was a resident of Adair County since 1863.
He was married September, 1879, to Miss Mary E. Madison, of Adams County, who died January 1, 1890. To this union were born two children Guy, now of Winterset and a daughter, who died in infancy.
He was again married February 21, 1894 to Miss Lorana Putney, who has been his faithful companion for almost 38 years.
Albert, as he was familiarly called, was converted when a young boy at the Wattawa church, later the Loucks Grove church, being active all his life in church work, and living the life he professed.
He leaves to mourn their loss, besides his wife and son, Guy and wife, two grandsons, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hines of Pleasanton, Kansas, and Mrs. Mary Kirlin, Greenfield; one brother, John L. McGinnis, also of Greenfield; besides many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was conducted Sunday at ten a.m. at the Loucks Grove church by a former pastor, Rev. Lester Proctor, of Carson.
Music was furnished by a mixed quartette, composed of Mrs. Elmer Maynes, Mrs. Scott Jones, Ray Lewis and Harold Osborn, with Miss Etna Osborn as pianist. The pall bearers were nephews of the deceased. They were Dell, Clem, Frank, Will and Floyd McGinnis and Elmer Herrick.
Interment was made at Prescott.
