Claude Clifton Jones, son of William and Mary Jones was born in Madison County, Iowa January 14, 1886 and passed away December 27, 1960 enroute to the Adair County Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years, 11 months, 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one son, Claude Lloyd, who passed away at the age of 6 years.

On January 29, 1912 he was united in marriage to Jessie Ellen Sellers at Winterset. To this union was born 3 sons and 1 daughter.

In 1933 he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined the Pentecost church in Winterset.

The greater part of his life was spent in Adair and Madison counties.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie, two sons, Harold and Lester of Stuart, a daughter, Naomi (Mrs. James Wheeler) of Knoxville and 9 grandchildren; also two brothers, A. B. Jones of Stuart and Jacob Jones of Lorimor; two sisters Mrs. Anna Wood of Sacramento, Calif. and Mrs. Jessie Loehr of Sheridan, Ore., several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Linn Funeral Home Dec. 30, 1960 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Murray Sopher officiating. Music was presented by Howard McCorkel, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Murray Sopher. Mrs. Gayle Bash and Mrs. Fern Zornes had charge of flowers. Casketbearers were August Faust, Harlan Jones, Deane Bash, Floyd Faust, Cecil Jones and Wayne Jones. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery at Stuart.
