Page 7, Column 5Bertha Margaret Jacobson was the oldest of the eight children born to Harvey and Rosa Margaret Thomas Huff.
She was born on a farm in Audubon county, Iowa, June 1, 1896, and passed away at her late home in Winterset, Madison county, Iowa Monday, October 12, 1964.
When Bertha was but a child the family moved to Adair county, settling on a farm in Prussia township, which was her home until she was united in marriage with Henning Viggo Jacobson, which took place July 22, 1914.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson lived on a farm in the Greenfield vicinity until they moved to Winterset 16 years ago.
Three daughters were born to this union, all of whom with their husbands survive her.
Mrs. Jacobson had been a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church in Winterset for several years, where she loved to participate in the services and various functions of the church and its fellowship. She also was a person most fond of her neighbors and friends and the warmth of her own friendliness was fondly felt by those about her. She loved her home and worked diligently with her flowers, which further bespoke the traits of the fine woman that she was.
Surviving Mrs. Jacobson are her three daughters, Mrs. Vera Ahl and husband Leonard of Dexter, Mrs. Rosa Eddy and husband George, and Mrs. Goldie Gomez and husband John, both of Stuart; ten grandchildren and one great grandson, all to whom she was fondly devoted.
Also surviving her, is a brother Jake Huff of Winterset and a sister, Mrs. William Gronwold of Van Meter, Iowa. Her husband, Viggo preceded her in death on February 5, 1960. Her parents, four brothers and three sisters have also preceded her in death.
Services were held Thursday afternoon, October 15, 1964 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian church in Winterset with burial in the cemetery at Greenfield. Rev. John Finck officiated. Music was furnished by Clifford Scholten, soloist with Miss Holly Adey organist. Pallbearers were nephews: Larry, Dean, William and Clifford Huff, John Gronwold, Daniel Lundy and Larry Jacobson. Mr. and Mrs. Audra Schwanebeck and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duff were in charge of flowers.
