Word has been received of the death of Gerald “Si” D. Hiatt, 90, of Elkhart who died Nov. 30 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services were Dec. 4, at the Elkhart Christian Church. Burial was in the Elkhart Cemetery.

Mr Hiatt was born in Truro and was a brother of the late Dwight Hiatt. He taught school in Truro during the late 1930s. A retired school superintendent and athletic coach, he lived in California and Colorado before moving to Elkhart.

Mr. Hiatt is survived by his wife Nancy; a daughter, Mary Kehoe of Ottumwa and a son Steven Hiatt of San Francisco.

Gerald D. Hiatt, 90, of Elkhart died of a heart ailment Sunday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elkhart Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery.

Mr. Hiatt was born in Truro and had lived in California and Colorado prior to Elkhart. He was a retired school superintendent and athletic coach.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Mary Kehoe of Ottumwa; a son, Steven of San Francisco; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ankeny Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
