Services were held Sunday, October 31 for Laura T. Young of Adel, who passed away at the age of 87. Rev. Joe Lawson officiated at the services held at the Fisher Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Orrie Hildenbrand, Orsa Hildenbrand, Harry Vincent, Kenneth Gowin, Lawrence Perry and Dale Gowin. Soloist was Robert Fisher, accompanied by Miriam Caudron. Burial was at Pitzer cemetery.
Rev. Lawson read the following concerning the life of Laura T. Young:
Laura Frances Young, the daughter of Rebeca and John Weaver was born March 14, 1867 and departed this life October 28, 1954. She was united in holy matrimony to Joseph Hiram Young in the year of 1885. To this union was born 6 children, 4 of whom are living. Arthur Young, Cane, Mo.; Edna Vincent, Des Moines, Iowa; Maud Hildenbrand, Winterset, Iowa; Mary Gowin, Adel, Iowa. Two sons and her husband have preceded her in death. She is the last one of her family. She had 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
She made her home with her daughter, Mary Gowin, Adel, Iowa. She was a willing hand to help others. She was a member of the Open Bible Church, Adel, Iowa and attended regularly until her health failed her. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
