Flossie Mae Davis was born June 22, 1892 in Madison County, Iowa and passed to glory on October 21, 1983 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle, Iowa at the age of 91 years, four months. She was the second of nine children born to Charles Benjamin and Florence Osa Mapes Harrison. She attended school in Madison and Adair Counties in Iowa, and at an early age asked Jesus to be her Savior, lovingly serving Him all her life.

She was married to Caleb Elmer Davis on October 13, 1912 at her parents’ home near Orient, Iowa. She and Elmer lived on farms in Madison and Adair counties until his failing health caused them to retire. They lived in Creston one year and then moved to Greenfield where Elmer passed away November 1, 1947. She lived in Cedar Falls and Des Moines, Iowa and Denver and Sterling, Colorado and since 1964 had made her home in Stuart. In March of this year she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle where she received loving care.

While living in Stuart she organized and conducted a weekly Bible class for children which she held in her home for several years. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, working with handcrafts and cooking. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Stuart.

She is survived by her four children: Cecil Davis and his wife Bula, of Greenfield, Iowa, Rex Davis and his wife Lucille, of Greenacres, Washington, Dale Davis and his wife Annie, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jewell and her husband Jerry Jungman of Stuart, Iowa. Nine grandchildren survive her: David Davis, of Crete, Connie Davis, of Greenfield, Lyle Davis, Barbara Wayne, Allen Davis and Martha Poffenroth of the state of Washington, Mark Davis and Christopher Jungman, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Timothy Jungman, of St. Paul, Minnesota. There are 12 great grandchildren.

Her parents, one sister, three brothers, one sister-in-law, a daughter-in-law and a grandson preceded her in death.

She is survived by her four sisters, Fern Plymesser, of Greenfield, Iowa, Helen Johnston, of Independence, Iowa, Ivo Lane, of Orient, Iowa, and Lela Herrick, of Winterset two sisters-in-law, Zayda Harrison of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Nora Harrison, of Stuart, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Rex Lane of Orient and Robert Johnston of Independence, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were conducted October 25, 1983 at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield, Iowa, with the Rev. George Thurman officiating. Mrs. Alice Hogan provided organ music and accompanied the vocalists and the congregational singing.

Casket bearers were Rex Davis, Mark Davis, Jerry Jungman, Dale Davis, Cecil Davis and Christopher Jungman. The floral committee was Mrs. Lorna Thomas and Mrs. Frances White. Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Iowa.
