Wesley Edward was born in Madison County, Iowa on June 22, 1912 to George Wesley and Merta Belle (Lyst) Wheeler and passed away September 17, 1984 at the Craft Care Center in Panora, Iowa. He had reached the age of 72 years.

When Ed was four years old he moved to Montana with his parents and lived there until he was 17 years old. Then he moved to the Stuart area and made this his home until entering the Craft Care Center.

On May 17, 1931 he was married to Floretta Edith Greene and one son was born to this union.

For a while Ed did some farming. Later he was employed as custodian at the Stuart High School, retiring after 17 years, on September 30, 1976.

He was a member of the Odd Fellow #214 Lodge, Rebekah Columbia Lodge #6, Stuart Encampment #81 and Canton Pioneer #3 in Des Moines. He was very active in lodge and held all offices.

Some of the things Ed enjoyed in life were fishing, gardening, flowers and helping others. He was a devoted husband and father.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Freddie.

Surviving are his wife Floretta; son George and his wife Colleen of Huntington Beach, California; two grandsons, Mike and his wife Lynn of Des Moines, Iowa and Mark of Huntington Beach, California; two brothers, Robert D. of Tampa, Florida and Floyd of Bremerton, Washington; two sisters Ruth Johnston of Walla Walla, Washington and Virgie Klemke of Snyder, Nebraska, and a host of relatives and friends.

Rev. George Thurman officiated at the funeral service on September 20, 1984 at the First Congregational Church in Stuart, Iowa. Vocal and organ music was provided by Mrs. Debbie Wilson. Caring for the floral tributes were Mrs. Don Roberts and Mrs. Lester Jones. Casket bearers were Donald Roberts, Richard Clark, Bill Belden, Howard Smith, Louie Nelson and Lester Jones. Interment was in South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, Iowa.
