Memorial services were held Saturday, January 19, for Eddie Davis, a long time resident of the Stuart area. Mr. Davis was born on August 11, 1892 in Madison County. Most of his life was spent farming near Stuart and Menlo.

January 3 of this year he and his wife Ethel celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary with their children Clyde and Lucille (Mrs. John Lyons).

Mr. Davis passed away January 17 at the Community Care Center in Stuart.

Eddie Davis, son of Francis M. and Sarah Pritchard Davis, was born on August 11, 1892 in Madison County, Iowa and passed away January 17, 1974 at the Community Care Center, Stuart, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 6 days.

In 1912 he was united in marriage to Mary Ethel Allen of Booneville, Iowa. To this union two children were born. Most of his lifetime was spent farming near Stuart and Menlo. On January 3, 1974 Eddie and Ethel celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary with their children at the Community Care Center.

Eddie was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend to all. Always when help was needed, he was there to lend a helping hand.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, one sister and a grandson. Survivors include his wife Ethel, one son, Clyde and his wife Marie of Guthrie Center; one daughter, Lucille Lyons and her husband John of Menlo; 5 grandchildren: Dr. Larry Davis of Overland Park, Kansas, Richard and David Davis of Muscatine, Iowa; Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Sloan of Adel, Iowa; and Mrs. James (Joanne) Williams of Casey, Iowa; 10 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church at Menlo with the Rev. Wallace Kinzler officiating. Caring for the floral tributes were Mrs. Willis Cline and Mrs. Noel Roberts. Music was provided by Mrs. O. V. Buttler. Honorary casket bearers included Royal McNelly, Reuben Blomquist, Weir Carter, Chester Enright, Paul Pritchard and Willis Cline. Serving as active casket bearers were Noel Roberts, Donald Stemm, Bob Dickson, Virgil Christensen, Fred Van Duzer and Bill Buttler. Graveside services were held on the family plot in the Rosehill Cemetery at Menlo, Iowa.
