Page 4, Column 5Fon Ward was born September 28, 1901 near Casey, Iowa to Hal and Cora (Cameron) Moyer and passed away July 10, 1985 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.
On September 5, 1922 he was united in marriage to Glena Kinsey and two sons were born to this union.
Most of his life was spent on a farm near Glendon and Jackson Township. For many years he was a professional wrestler and also enjoyed playing baseball.
In 1963 Fon and Glena retired. The last six years Fon had been a resident of the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, infant Clarence and three-year-old Dewey; one sister, Beatrice Stringer Christensen; his wife Glena and son Harry (Bud) Moyer.
Survivors include son Paul and his wife Bonnie, of Prole, Iowa; his daughter-in-law Mona H. Moyer, of Adel; his stepmother Marie Moyer, of Winterset; two sisters, Sylvia Purviance, of Des Moines, and Bess Swanson, of Benton, Arkansas; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Rev. George Thurman officiated at the funeral service on July 13, 1985 at the Link Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Wayne Miller and vocal music was rendered by Mrs. Conrad Githens. Serving as casket bearers were Bill Kinsey, Bernard Purviance, Robert Purviance, Keith Crowder, Grant Llewellyn and Richard Stringer. Interment was in Morrisburg Cemetery, Guthrie County, Iowa.
