Page 7, Columns 4 & 5David William Paullin, son of Isaac and Mary Cline Paullin, was born in Winterset, Iowa May 31, 1870, and departed this life August 17, 1971 at the age of 101 years, 2 months, and 16 days at the Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
In early life, he farmed in and around Madison County, and in 1894 he was united in marriage to Lula Lamar of Stuart, Iowa. She passed away after a lingering illness in April, 1908.
Later he married Elizabeth Blackburn and together they raised the four children, Fern, Maylon, Marie and William. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was a friend to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife and sons, Maylon and William, and infant daughter, Myrtle.
He leaves to mourn his departure two daughters, Mrs. Fern Marchant, Glendale, California, and Mrs. Marie Wardrop, Genesee Depot, Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 48 great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Link Funeral Home, with Rev. George Thurman officiating. Robert Lawson furnished the music and Mrs. Jim Trowbridge was in chare of the floral tributes.
Pallbearers were Wayne Wardrop, Donald Wardrop, John Gruss, Howard Cave, Elvin Cave, Darrell Clauer.
Interment was in South Oak Grove Cemetery.
