Jim Meister Rites Monday

Services for Martin (Jim) Meister, 84, were held Monday afternoon in the Evans Funeral Home in Dexter. He passed away May 14 in the Dexter Hospital.

Born south of Dexter, Mr. Meister lived in the Dexter community all his life. His occupation was a skilled mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Roxie. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Ella Piper of Dexter, one brother, Franz of Coon Rapids, a niece, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Clausen of Dexter, a nephew Kurtland Piper of Perry and several step-children.

Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.

Oswin Martin (Jim) Meister, the son of Emil Meister and Henrietta, nee Oehler, was born in Madison County, Iowa, on June 1, 1886. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church on June 27, 1886 and confirmed on March 31, 1901. He received his school training and lived all his life in the Dexter community. He was married to Roxie Hoy on October 13, 1932. She preceded him in death on July 15, 1967.

Mr. Meister passed away at the Dexter Clinic Hospital on Friday, May 14 at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was step-father to three sons, Ora Hoy of Atlantic, Clell Hoy of Cary, Illinois, and Max Hoy of Ankeny; two daughters, Mrs. Cleo Frost of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. I. G. Anderson of Wake Forest, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Ella Piper of Dexter and one brother, Franz Meister of Coon Rapids.

Funeral services were held at the Evans Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, May 17 with the Rev. Norman M. Luecht in charge. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.
