Inez Mildred Shaw, daughter of Elizabeth Moore and Charles D. Barr, was born November 18, 1898 in Madison County, Iowa and departed this life July 11, 1976 at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

She was a teacher in Washington township rural school in Clarke County, Iowa.

On March 9, 1921 she was united in marriage to Arthur Carman Shaw in Dexter, Iowa. Four children were born to this union.

Inez has lived in the Stuart community since 1923. She has served as high school girls Sunday School teacher in the First Congregational Church where she was a member.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her brother, Lee, Mel, Earl, and Ray Barr. Survivors include her husband Arthur, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Patterson of Ida Grove, Iowa and three sons, Merritt C. and Edward B. of Stuart, Iowa and Leland of Osceola, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Dortha Compton of Redfield, Iowa and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were conducted from the First Congregational Church in Stuart on Wednesday morning, July 14, 1976 with Rev. George Thurman officiating, assisted by Rev. Jerry Evelsizer. Organ selections were provided by Miss Gloria Thurman and floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. H. E. Morrison, Jr. and Mrs. Betty Schwartzkopf. Serving as casket bearers were: David Shaw, William Shaw, Steven Shaw, James Shaw, James Belden and Jerry Partlow. Interment was in South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, Iowa.
