Mrs. Clara Alice Jones, 74, passed away Tuesday morning, July 9 at the Garwood Nursing Home in Dexter.
Born in Adair county, Mrs. Jones was a lifetime resident of the Stuart community.
Survivors include her husband Archibald Jones, three sons, Cecil, Eldon and Wayne of Stuart; six daughters, Esther Beghtel of Guthrie Center, Eva Phillips of Greenfield, Agnes Rudolf of Winterset, Maxine Voss of Redfield, Iola Waddell of Anita and Mary Mattox of South Beloit, Ill.; also a half sister, Blanche Grastey of Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, July 13 at 2 p.m. in the Friends church with burial in the Fairview cemetery.

Pg 3, Column 5 & 6Clara Alice Jones, daughter of Samuel and Ida Slight, was born Aug. 5, 1888 in Adair County and passed away at the Garwood Nursing Home in Dexter, Iowa on July 9, 1963 at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 4 days, having spent most of her life in Stuart and surrounding vicinity.
She was united in marriage to Archabald Jones Nov. 20, 1905 at Winterset, Iowa. To this union ten children were born: Everett who preceded her in death at the age of 12 years, Cecil, Eldon and Wayne of Stuart, Esther Beghtel of Guthrie Center, Eva Phillips of Greenfield, Agnes Rudolf of Winterset, Maxine Voss of Redfield, Iola Waddell of Anita and Mary Mattox of South Beloit, Ill.
Besides her son Everett, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great grandson. She became a member of the Stuart Friends Church on Feb. 27th, 1938 and continued faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted.
She was a loyal wife and loving mother, patient and kind; and considerate toward her friends and neighbors. The memory and influence of her quiet Christian life will always be a blessing to those she has left behind.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, six daughters, thirty grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, a half sister, Mrs. Blanche Grasty of Iowa City, many other relatives and a host of friends.
