Page 1, Columns 6 & 7Archie Jones, 87, of Stuart passed away Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. Mr. Jones had been in failing health for some time.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Esther) Beghtel and Mrs. Clarence (Agnes) Rudolph both of Stuart, Mrs. Elmer (Eva) Phillips of Greenfield, Mrs. Cecil (Iola) Waddell of Anita, Mrs. Don (Maxine) Voss of Dexter, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Mattox of South Beloit, Ill., and three sons, Cecil Jones, Eldon Jones and Wayne Jones all of Stuart.
Funeral services were held at the Stuart Friends church Tuesday, Nov. 2 with interment in South Oak Grove Cemetery.

Archibald Byron Jones, son of William and Mary (Hill) Jones was born February 15, 1884 at Alton, Illinois and passed away October 30, 1971 at the Adair County Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 15 days. He came to Iowa as a small boy and lived most of his life in the Winterset and Stuart communities. He was united in marriage to Clare Alice Slight, November 20, 1905. To this union were born 10 children, one of which preceded him in death. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by 9 children, 3 sons, Cecil, Eldon and Wayne all of Stuart, and six daughters, Mrs. Floyd Beghtel (Esther) of Stuart; Mrs. Elmer Phillips (Eva) of Greenfield, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence Rudolf (Agnes) of Stuart; Mrs. Donald Voss (Maxine) of Dexter; Mrs. Cecil Waddell (Iola) of Anita; Mrs. Charles Mattox (Mary) of South Beloit, Illinois; also 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Essie Loehr of Woodburn, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Everett Nelson, one grandson, and 3 great-grandsons; also 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
A. B. as he was always known, will long be remembered by a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 2, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. from the Friends Church with Rev. Ray Block officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jones provided the music. Mrs. Weir Carter and Mrs. Luvena Knapp were in charge of flowers. Serving as pallbearers were Donald Pettit, Willis and Robert Grasty, Herbert Waddell, Paul and Russell Jones. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.
