E. T. Shannon, 83, Realtor Here 49 Years, Dies

Edgar T. Shannon, 83, Atlantic real estate dealer for nearly a half century, died at 8 o’clock last night at the Salem Invalid Home in Elk Horn, where he had been a patient several months. He has been in failing health 2 1/2 years and bedfast the last two months.

Mr. Shannon was born in Madison county March 7, 1870 and came to Cass county in 1880 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Shannon. He had been engaged in the real estate business from 1901 until he was forced to retire because of failing health in 1950. Mr. Shannon and Alta Henderson of Anita were married Jan. 1, 1903. He was a member of the Methodist church and Elks lodge.

Surviving are the widow, a son, Robert Shannon of Atlantic; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Temple of Omaha; two brothers, Henry Shannon of Anita and W. H. Shannon of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Dolly Shannon and Mrs. H. F. Harris of Des Moines and Mrs. J. E. Steinhart of Chicago and three grandchildren and one great grandchild. His father died in Des Moines in 1912 and his mother died in 1933. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Taylor & Sanders funeral home, the Rev. Leonard Tinker officiating. The remains will be at the funeral home until the service hour and interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.

FUNERAL NOTICES

For Ed Shannon

The Rev. Leonard E. Tinker officiated at funeral services for E. T. Shannon at the Taylor & Sanders funeral chapel this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Organ selections by Mrs. H. F. Shrauger were “Art Thou Weary” and “Sunset and Evening Star.”

Casket bearers were Gail Kirk, J. H. Imig, Lester Scholl, Maurice Shannon, H. O. Henningsen and don Henningsen. Interment was in the Atlantic cemetery.
