Robert Dale Brown passed away on September 10, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Thursday September 14 at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Friends may call after 2:00 pm where family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
He was born on May 6, 1945 in Sargent, NE to Edna Hazel (Brodine) and Eli Sylvester Brown. He was the youngest of 9 children. In 1956, his family moved to Prole, IA. He attended high school at Martensdale-St. Mary and graduated in 1964.
After high school he completed a 5 yr. sprinkler fitter apprenticeship and became a journeyman. He worked as a Union sprinkler fitter until he was injured on the job, which ended his career.
In the summer of 1969 he married Diane Rudolf, but sadly the marriage later dissolved. On December 17, 1987 he was united in marriage to Joyce Balius. Together with their 5 children, they lived in the Winterset area, later moving to Orient. Bob and Joyce spent their later years living in Arkansas, before returning to Iowa and making their home in Greenfield.
Bob loved to go camping, to travel, and be in the outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Calvin, Melvin, John and Jim; and his sisters, Dorothy and Lucille. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Missy (Don) McKean, Sheila (Richard) Baker, Todd (Becky) Brown, Crystal (Jason) Rodenburg and Kimberly (Brian) White; his brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Brown and Dick Brown; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
