Daisy Chapman Hough was born June 24, 1879 in Webster county, Iowa, and died at her home in Des Moines, Iowa on August 24, 1907. At the age of 13 years she moved with her parents to Lucus county, where her father, Reverend R. L. Chapman, was called as pastor of a congregation in the United Brethren church for one year, from thence to Madison county, Iowa, where she was married to Oscar K. Hough of Des Moines, Iowa, January 1, 1900. Their home from that time till her demise was in Des Moines.
To this union were born two daughters, Leata and Leora, now 4 and 6 years old. She was converted to Christ when but 14 years old and united with the United Brethren church and became a very active worker in the church and Sunday School. She was a favorite and friend to all and lived a happy life and was a great helper both in church work and in the social circle. In the year 1903 she with her husband, united with the congregation at Capitol Hill Church of Christ, Des Moines, Iowa, from whence her pastor, Reverend Van Horn, the funeral services were conducted, and was laid to rest in the Woodland cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa. She leaves a husband, two daughters, father, mother, two sisters and a host of friends to mourn. But we do not mourn as those that have no hope for we realize that our loss is her eternal gain and that her place now is with who gives eternal rest.
