FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN OREGON

Joe Spurgin, formerly of Winterset, died Monday, July 29, at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Spurgin, in Eugene, Ore. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Spurgin was born in Madison County, the son of John and Sarah Bishop Spurgin. He was married to Mabel Rumford of Winterset. For a number of years he was associated with his father in the operation of a meat market here.

His wife and son John died seven years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alice Barnett of California.
