Karel Marie Farnsworth
January 21, 1940 - March 25, 2017

Karel Marie Farnsworth, 77, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.

Karel was born January 21, 1940, to Earl and Mabel (Miller) Koboldt on the family farm near Winterset, Iowa. She grew up in the Earlham area and attended and graduated from the Earlham High School in 1958.

She was married to George “Walton” Farnsworth on April 3, 1960, at the Earlham United Methodist Church in Earlham, Iowa. Karel had been a resident of the Adair area until she moved to the Community Care Center in Stuart two years ago.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Adair. She served as a church elder and also was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s group. Karel taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church and served as an officer in the United Methodist Women’s Organization. Karel was in the Adair Ladies Civic League and was also very active in the Adair VFW Auxiliary where she had held several offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, George “Walton” Farnsworth.

Karel is survived by her daughters, Deanna Farnsworth and her husband, Walter Bellar of Sarasota, FL and Karen Farnsworth of West Des Moines, IA; a brother, Kenneth Koboldt of Earlham, IA; a sister, Marjorie Koboldt also of Earlham, IA; and by several cousins.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church in Adair, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to Sunnyhill Cemetery.
