Friday, April 07, 2017OBITUARY OF VIOLET SHELDON ROSS
Violet Florence Sheldon Ross, 91, of Indianola, Iowa, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Indianola Good Samaritan Center in Indianola. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 10, 2017, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Iowa with Pastor Joel Nau officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset, Iowa.
Violet was born on August 30, 1925, at Barney, Iowa to Jimmie and Blossom (Brooks) Sheldon. She moved to Winterset when she was 16 years old and was a graduate of Winterset High School. On February 19, 1948 she was married to Everett Ross. Violet had worked as a telephone operator for 25 years and then was a librarian with the Winterset Public Library for 30 years.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Harrison; son, Harry Lee Ross; grandchildren, Derrick Ross, Lindsay Maxwell, Rachelle Bennethum, Elizabeth Fox and Sheldon Ross; and eight great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Blossom (Brooks) Sheldon; husband, Everett Ross; brother, James William Sheldon; sisters, Dorothy Lemon and Mildred Bush; and grandsons, Shane Maxwell and Elijah Harrison.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 PM. Memorials may be directed to Friends of the Winterset Public Library.
