DEXTER: Several of Dexter’s senior citizens have passed away during the past year. The latest was Sarah Hill who died Dec. 21, while visiting her son’s family in Colorado. She had been in fairly good health for her age.

For many years she and her husband farmed near Dexter until they retired to a home in the west part of Dexter.

Last rites were spoken by Rev. John Latta at the Methodist Church Sunday. Casket bearers were John Hadley, Floyd Carter, Ted Lenocker, Frantz Lenocker, Virgil Clements and Wilbur Carter. Roy E. Evans had charge of funeral arrangements.

Sarah Ann Sheild, daughter of Mary Ann and James Sheild, was born October 4, 1879 at Leadgate County, Durham, England and passed away December 21, 1967 at Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 88 years, 2 mo. And 17 days.

At the age of four years she came to America with her family and settled at Braceville, Illinois. On January 18, 1898 she was married to Arthur Hill at Morris, Ill. To this union was born three children, Earl L. of Colorado Springs; Elsie M. Bunnell of Dexter and Harold who died at 21 months of age.

In 1902 they moved to a farm near Dexter, Iowa where they lived until 1953 when they moved to Dexter. She was a member of the Methodist Church for more than 50 years and was a faithful attendant as long as her health allowed.

She is survived by two children, Earl L. of Colorado Springs, and Elsie M. Bunnell of Dexter. Also a sister Ora Fisher of Marseilles, Illinois.
