Services were held for Earl A. Chase, at the DeFord-Fisher Funeral Home in Redfield, Tuesday, November 7, at 10 a.m.
Mr. Chase, a widely known retired farmer, passed away November 4, after several months of illness.
Garnet Herrington was in charge of the services. Robert Fisher was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Vyrlee Godwin. Casket bearers included Leslie Stoops, M. C. Emehiser, Everett Garoutte, Richard Yeager, Berthol Huggins and Albert Carmichael.
He is survived by his second wife, Marian, and two sons, Melvin of Redfield and Dean of Des Moines.

Thursday, November 16, 1967Earl Amos Chase was born August 3, 1902, to Alanson and Eva Gorrell near Winterset, Iowa. He died November 4, 1967 at 11:15 p.m., at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 1 day.
Earl was raised in Douglas county and in and around Winterset, Iowa. On January 22, 1924, Earl took Goldie Hester to be his wife, and together they moved to a farm south of Van Meter, Iowa. To this union was born three sons: Dean, Melvin and Paul. Then in 1936, together with his family, he moved to another farm west of Adel. Paul, his son, died in an auto accident in April 1953, and Goldie, his wife, passed away after a prolonged illness in April 1954.
Then on March 121, 1956, Earl joined again in marriage to Marian Kinney of Dallas Center. He retired from the farm in 1956, after 45 years of farming. Earl lived his last two years in Redfield. Earl suffered from heart trouble.
Earl is survived by his wife, Marian, his two sons, Dean of Des Moines and Melvin of Linden; two stepsons: James Kinney of West Des Moines and John Kinney of Redfield; four sisters: Ella Kennedy of Boise, Idaho, Mary Meyer and Pearl Shaw both of Winterset, Iowa, and Grace Cross of Denver, Colorado, and one brother, Harold Chase of Modesto, California; also ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie, his son, Paul, his grandson, Michael, his brother, Walter, and two sisters, Mamie and Ida.
During his recent illness while he was in the Dexter Hospital, 9 year old Michael, son of Melvin and grandson of Earl, died in a tractor accident. Upon hearing from Melvin of young Michael’s faith, Earl was deeply touched, and on October 31st after rousing from his recent coma, Earl was converted.
