Rites held for John Huglin, 69

A memorial service was held Sat. at the Dexter Presbyterian Church for John Huglin who died May 10 at the age of 69. Rev. Jerry Evelsizer and Rev. James Nicholson were in charge of the ceremony. Music was furnished by Nadine Shepherd.

Casket bearers were Errol Heckman, George Fillman, Therrian King, Gary Drake, Gerald Bochart and Virgil Sanborn. Honorary bearers were Cliff Stanley, Harvey Payton, Bob Lorenzen and Gerald Heckman. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery by Evans Service.

John Franklin Huglin, son of William and Catherine Martens Huglin, was born October 7, 1903, at Bevington, Iowa, and died at his home near Dexter May 10, 1973.

His father died in John’s early childhood and in 1933, he moved to the present farm to make a home for his mother, who died May 16, 1949. Until poor health stopped him a few years ago, John farmed about 60 acres and had a special affection for his animals.

Preceding him in death were his father, mother, two brothers, Bill and George, and a sister Barbara. Survivors include four sisters, Emma Haakes of Martensdale, Etta Riley of Fruita, Colorado, Florence Shearer o Colfax, and Grace Ford of Phoenix, Arizona, and a brother, Ernest of Westminster, Calif. He also leaves many dear nieces and nephews, and good neighbors and friends.
