Merryl C. Melton, 1327 M Ave., Nevada, Ia. Died at his home Friday morning at 5:20 a.m.
Mr. Melton, 71, had been in ill health for the past several years.
Born Feb. 14, 1898 at Gravity, Iowa, he was the son of Frank and Elizabeth Melton. He was a retired farmer and had been a resident of Nevada for the last 8 years.
He was married to Lois Taylor on Sept. 14, 1921 at Dupree, S. Dakota.
Survivors are his wife, Lois, and his step mother Mrs. F. E. Melton of Huntington Park, Calif. Four sons, Russell of Chicago, Kenneth of Oklahoma City, Darrell of Ankeny and Louis of Nevada; three daughters Mrs. J. J. Croker (Joan) of Iowa City, Mrs. Rhea Kaufman of Des Moines, and Mrs. Jack Smith (Jean) of Adel.
Also two brothers, Clark of Linden and Harold of Redfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lilah Knodel of Des Moines and Mrs. B. C. McNeill (Velma) of Woodland Hills, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, one brother and one sister.
Mr. Melton lived many years in Dallas and Madison counties and spent his youth on the farm N. E. of Redfield.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with burial at the cemetery at Colo.
