James Guy Frye, youngest son of Eliza and Sarah Frye, was born December 2, 1885, east of Penn Center in Madison County, Iowa; he passed away Thursday evening, November 18, 1965, at the Redfield Hospital at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 14 days.

At an early age the family moved to a farm southeast of Redfield, and in 1900 he moved to Redfield with his parents, and has lived here since.

On January 16, 1923, he was united in marriage to Ella F. Dickey. To this union one daughter was born, Clara M. Frye, who was at her father’s bedside when he passed away.

From February, 1930, until August 1945, Mr. Frye worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1945 he was employed by the Iowa Soya Company, where he worked until his retirement. He was custodian of the Redfield Methodist Church for several years and enjoyed the time he devoted to this pursuit. He was a lover of nature and enjoyed working with his flowers.

Those left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Clara, of Redfield, a sister, Ruth Partlow, five nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a nephew, Gaylord Frye.

Final services were held in the Redfield Methodist Church with the Rev. John Latta officiating. Interment was in the East Linn Cemetery. Mrs. Herbert Huggins and Harold Ellis sang two duets as Mrs. Richard Ulrich played the organ.
