DEXTER: Lloyd H. Spencer, 76, a brother of Herbert Spencer, now in the Stuart Care Center, died Friday night at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Mr. Spencer was born Sept. 19, 1894 in Cedarville, Ohio to James and Ida Mekenson Spencer. His early years were spent in the Pitzer area, attending high school at Earlham. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Coe College and an M. A. from the University of Iowa.

After marrying Ruby Walter, Sept. 20, 1921 in Maynard, Spencer taught school at Glenwood, Iowa and at Northern State Teachers College, Aberdeen, S. Dak. For 30 years before his death he was a salesman for Compton Encyclopedia.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John Drexel of Pomona, Calif.; two sons, Elwyn of Yokohama, Japan, and Francis of Minneapolis; three brothers, James of Woodward, Thomas of Oak Grove, Mo., and Herbert of Stuart; and two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Beeson of Earlham and Mrs. Fred Stotts of Wichita, Kan.
