OBITUARY OF OSCAR WILLIAM VOGEL

Son of Andrew and Mary Vogel, was born Oct. 25, 1861, at Decatur, Wis. and departed this life April 16, 1932, aged 70 years, 5 months and 21 days.

He came to Iowa with his parents when 7 years of age to a farm south of Dexter, Iowa, Madison County, where he grew to manhood, uniting with the German Lutheran Church.

He was married to Lovina Fett, in 1888. To this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Mabel James, of Stuart, Iowa, Pearl dying in infancy, and Mrs. Rosa Longbehn who died 9 years ago.

He made his home around Stuart and vicinity, until 14 years ago, working for the J. H. Williams Co. Going to Council Bluffs, he worked in the Great Western Shops. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Mabel James, and grandson, Gilbert James of Stuart, two brothers, Ed, of Dexter, and Jacob, of Des Moines, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. Stephen Chalmers of Atlanta, Georgia, besides nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Buckley Funeral Home conducted by Rev. C. W. Hempstead of the Congregational church. A quartette composed of Mesdames LeMar, and Swinehart, Lester Proctor and Rex Zink, with Mrs. Smull accompanying, sang two numbers. The pallbearers were: Wyman Taesell, Bert Chittick, Ferris Haynes, Norve Fitz, Roscoe Whitaker and James McBride. Burial was at Penn Center.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Will Vogel, Grand Island, Neb., F. L. Langbehn, Ellwood, N.D., Ed Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hills, Henry Fett, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Fett, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Fett and family, Mrs. Will Fett and family and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Petrie of Dexter, and Mr. and Mrs. Langbehn of Casey.
