Obituary

Myrtle May Whitlow, daughter of William and Drucilla Whitlow was born in Winterset, Iowa, February 4, 1878, and died of dropsy of the heart at her home in Des Moines, Ia., Nov. 18, 1916, aged 38 years, 9 months and 14 days.

In 1906 she was married to Frank Childress of Des Moines form whom she was separated a few years later, and since that time she had made her home with her parents in Winterset and her sister in Des Moines.

At the age of 14 years she joined the Baptist church in Winterset and was baptized.

Unusually good hearted and of kind disposition, she was always ready to help some one in need. She was a faithful and loving daughter and sister and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her death, her father, mother, one bother, Marion of Winterset, two sisters, Mrs. Flossie Carroll of Des Moines, and Nellie at home. Also, one sister-in-law, six nieces and four nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins besides a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home of her parents by Rev. Burton of the Church of Christ, and interment was made in the Rock City cemetery.

Transcriber's note: Apparently, the deceased was divorced from Frank Childress for there is a 1911 Des Moines, Polk, Iowa marriage record wherein she married a John H. Phillips.
