Amanda Moomaw-Perrin was born in Ross county, Ohio May 24, 1833, and died at her home in Winterset, Iowa, July 23, 1914, aged eighty-one years, one month and twenty-nine days.

She was united in marriage to James McVay in the year 1849. To this union were born eight children, five being left to mourn her loss. They are: Mrs. Mary Spence, of Carlisle, Iowa; Miller McVay, of St. Charles, Iowa; Allen McVay, of Dallas, Missouri; Nelson McVay, of Britt, Iowa; and Mrs. Ida Perry, of Alexander, N.D. Besides these she leaves twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In 1880 her companion was called away and in 1883, she was married to Mr. C. Perrin who died in the year 1905. Since then she had made her home in Madison county except two years spent at the home of her daughter, Ida, in North Dakota.

She has been a faithful member of the Christian church for many years. In last March she was stricken with dropsy being a constant sufferer until she passed away. All through her illness she expressed her faith in her Savior and of her readiness to meet him.

The funeral services were held at the Middle River Friends church, conducted by Rev. Taylor Guthrie, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Palmyra cemetery.
