St. Charles

Mrs. Earl Murphy, who for some months had been confined to her room by illness, passed away last Thursday morning at her home here. All that medical skill and loving hands could do to stay the grim reaper was for naught. In her death our city has lost a valuable asset. She indeed was a devoted wife, an affectionate mother, a true friend and helper in time of need and her life was filled with a desire, first of all, to the service to her friends and neighbors and to harbor no ill feeling toward her enemies should there be any.

She leaves a kind husband and three children to travel the rest of life’s journey without her cheering and wife words of council.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church by her former pastor, A. E. George, of Mitchellville, and her body was taken to Winterset for burial.
