OBITUARY

Mrs. B. F. Church

Malinda, daughter of David and Malinda Cline was born in Ohio June 15, 1842. The family came to eastern Iowa when she was a small child and moved to Madison county in 1854 where they lived on a farm in Douglas township.

She was united in marriage to B. F. Church January 1, 1861 and soon after she was left alone while Mr. Church served for three years in the Civil war. To their union four sons were born, David of South Dakota; Clyde, Frank and Fred of California.

After their marriage they lived for some time on a farm, then moving to Colorado and later to Nebraska where they spent several years and then returned to Winterset. She became a member of the Winterset Church of Christ when a young woman.

Mr. Church died in 1917 and five years ago Mrs. Church went to the Soldiers’ Home in Marshalltown where she died May 9, 1929, aged 86 years, 10 months and 24 days. She leaves beside her four sons, eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. W. H. Paullin of Winterset and many other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. C. McCallon assisted by Rev. A. P. Keast Sunday afternoon, May 12, at 3 o’clock at Tidrick’s funeral home; burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

MRS. CHURCH DIES AT MARSHALLTOWN

Mrs. M. J. Church, 87 years old, died Thursday of last week at the Old Soldiers home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Tidrick’s funeral home, conducted by the Rev. A. P. Keast, pastor of the Methodist church and the Rev. F. Clare McCallon, of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Mrs. Church was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Cline who settled in Douglas township in 1854. In 1861 she was married to B. F. Church, who was a Civil war veteran and who died in 1917.

Mrs. W. H. Paullin, of Winterset, is a sister. Four sons also survive, David of South Dakota; Clyde, Frank and Fred of California.

Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral of Mrs. M. J. Church were David B. Church of South Dakota, and Mrs. J. W. Noone, of Kansas City, Kansas.
