GEORGE HAMNER DIES AT REMARKABLE AGE

George Hamner who came to Madison county in 1849 died at the county hospital recently. Mr. Hamner was 94 years old. He was one of the half dozen persons living who came to Madison county in 1848 or 1849. He settled in Scott township in the same year that Porter Rollstin, A. J. Campbell, W. W. McKnight, J. R. Silliman, John Rogers, John Hinkle, George Breeding and a half dozen others entered land there.

For the past five years he has lived at the county farm. He retained his mental vigor until the very last. He was a farmer all his life.
