Mark Jay Love
February 24, 1936 - October 25, 2016

A celebration of life visitation will be held in Marks honor from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5th. at the Redfield American Legion. A private family burial will be held in the Dexter Cemetery.

Mark was born February 24, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Earl A. and Anna L. Michener Love. Mark grew up in the Altoona area. At an early age, Mark moved to Wyoming and worked on a highway crew building the new highway systems going in out there at the time.

Mark was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After basic training he was sent to paratrooper training. During his training the war ended and he was reassigned to Germany. While there he was assigned to Machinist School and learned the trade he loved. After being honorably discharged on June 23, 1956 he returned home, received his GED and enrolled in advanced Machinist school.

Mark was united in marriage to Carlyn "Carol" Ann Tweedt on August 15, 1958 in Alleman, Iowa. This union was blessed with four children: Richard, Randy, Lori and Kenneth. Over the years Mark and Carol lived in Altoona, Des Moines and Earlham before making their home on an acreage south of Redfield.

Mark was employed at John Deere in 1958 as a Machinist and retired in 1991 as a Tool and Die Inspector with John Deere.

Mark was a lifetime member of the Redfield American Legion and enjoyed helping with their honor guard and on Saturdays at their breakfasts. He enjoyed motorcycles, ultra-running and running marathons. He also greatly enjoyed sky diving. Mark and Carol traveled to many places: out east, Texas and to the mountains of Wyoming and Montana. They enjoyed backpacking with their family, biking on the local trails, watching the wildlife around their acreage and capturing photos of the wildlife on the trail cam he set up.

He is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Carol on June 10, 2011, son, Randy in 1960 and two brothers, Chuck and Bob.

Mark leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his children: Rick (Patti) Love of Neola, Iowa, Lori (Rick) Parker of Cambridge, Maryland and Kenneth (Robin) Love of Rockford, Minnesota; grandchildren: Corey Newland and his children, Drake and Chase; Deanna Parker and her daughter, Katherine; Stephanie (Joe) Morris and their children, Joey and Noah; Ashley Love and Mark Love; brother, Jim (Sylvia) Love and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
