Page 1DAVID I. PRIEST SUCCUMBS AT PERU
David I. Priest, long time resident of Madison and Clarke counties, died Nov. 3 at the home of his nephew, Amel Priest of Peru, where he had been living recently. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Priest was born Dec. 29, 1869, at New London, the son of Jake and Elizabeth Jane Priest. He moved with his family from Henry county to Madison county when he was 12 years old. As a young man he spent some time in Colorado and Nebraska and other states, working on ranches and at the horse shoeing trade. In 1913 he bought a farm in Clarke county, which he operated until his health failed.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lenoir Peterson of Eugene, Ore.; a half brother, John Priest of Peru.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro.

David Isaac, son of Jake and Elizabeth Jane Priest, was born December 29, 1869 at New London, Iowa and departed this life at the home of his nephew, Amel Priest of Peru, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 5 days.
At the age of 12 he came with the family from Henry county to make their home in Madison county. As a young man he spent some time in Colorado and Nebraska on a ranch, and in other states working at the sores shoeing trade.
In 1913 he bought a farm in Clarke county which he operated until his health failed.
He leaves to mourn his death, his sister, Mrs. Lenoir Peterson of Eugene, Oregon and his half brother, John Priest of Peru, one nephew, Amel Priest and one niece Neva Draper, both of Peru, and a host of friends.
