Recent Winterset Resident Succumbs at 52 Years of Age
T. L. Flaugh, formerly of Winterset, died Monday, Sept. 1, in Des Moines where he had been living for nearly two years. He was 52 years of age.
Mr. Flaugh was a native of Botany, in Shelby county, where he was born May 26, 1895, the son of Eli Calvin and Cora Jane Flaugh. In 1897, he came with his parents to a farm near Orient in Adair county where he was reared. With the exception of five years in Missouri, he lived at Orient until 1937, when he moved to Winterset to make this community his home for the next nine years. In January, 1946, he moved to Des Moines, where he had been operating a service station on the Indianola road.
He was married Dec. 12, 1917, to Neva Alma Srackangast. They were the parents of five children, Harold E. Flaugh, who was killed in action over Germany in 1944 while serving with the army air forces, Clyde W. Flaugh of Des Moines, Mrs. Delores Schalkel of Oelwein, Mrs. Helen Waltz of Nevada, and Harry L. Flaugh, at home.
In addition to the children, he leaves his wife; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Lake of Orient; and five grandchildren.
He joined the Hill of Zion Christian church in 1916, later transferring his membership to the Methodist church in Winterset.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Dahlstrom Funeral home in Des Moines, in charge of the Rev. B. R. Hollis of the Park Avenue Christian church. Burial was made in the Highland Memory Gardens in that city.
