Arlo Smith Lived on Farm South of Winterset for 30 Years
Arlo Smith, farmer who lived south of Winterset for 30 years, died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Denison, where he had lived the last four years. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Smith was born in Green county, Feb. 13, 1874, and lived most of his life in Iowa. He was married Feb. 15, 1910, to Minnie Naomi Jane. They were the parents of six daughters, one preceding him in death in 1917.
Surviving are the five daughters, Mrs. Blanche Stewart, Mrs. Edith Crouch, Mrs. Ellen Parkman and Mrs. Ruth Crooke, all of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Grace Chilcote of Winterset; eight grandchildren; one brother, Mont Smith of South Dakota; four half brothers, and four half sisters.
Funeral services were held at Denison on Wednesday of last week and burial was made in the cemetery at Vail.
