JULIA YOUMANS, 88 DIED ON TUESDAY

Had Been Resident of This County Since Early Childhood

Mrs. Julia Youmans, a resident of Madison county for many years, died Tuesday, July 22, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Bierma of Monroe township. She was 88 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Youmans was a member of a family well known in the southern part of the county. She was the former Julia Etta Deardorff, and was the last surviving member of the ten children of that family. She was born in Mahaska county April 10, 1859. When she was 6 years old she came to Madison county with her parents. They settled in the Ebeneezer neighborhood, and this county was her home for the remainder of her long life.

As a young woman she was married to Russell D Youmans. They were the parents of three children, one son, Ernest, dying in infancy. Her husband died twenty-nine years ago, and since then she had made her home with the daughter, Mrs. Bierma.

In addition to the daughter, she is survived by a son, Clyde Youmans of Peru; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this Friday from the Methodist church in Truro, in charge of the Rev. W. C. Berggren of Polk City. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.
