WILLIAM WATSON, PATTERSON, DIES

Succumbs at Home There at Age of 77 Years

William S. Watson of Patterson died at his home there last Friday after an extended illness. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Watson had been a resident of Iowa since 1872. He was a native of New York, where he was born at Creton Falls, Nov. 23, 1869, the son of Lewis and Louisa Watson. He came to Iowa with his parents, and they settled at Oxford.

He was married Feb. 24, 1892, to Jennie Yenter, who preceded him in death March 10, 1935. They were the parents of five sons and a daughter, all of whom survive. They are: Frank, of Eldora, Leon of Rutland, Stanton of Garden City, Kan., Clarence of South Gate, Calif., Gordon of Chester, and Louise of Patterson. He also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

As a young man he united with the Presbyterian church, later transferring to the Rolfe church of which he was an elder and trustee at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the residence in Patterson in charge of the Rev. W. P. Gordon of the Winterset United Presbyterian church. On Monday rites were held at the First Federated church in Oxford, conducted by the Rev. E. L. Thompson. Burial was made in the Oxford cemetery.
