JULIA MULVIHILL DIED ON MONDAY

Member Pioneer Family in Crawford Township; Was 86 Years of Age

Mrs. Julia Mulvihill, life-long resident of Madison county, died at her home in Lee townhip Monday evening, shortly after 9:30 o’clock, after an extended illness. Mrs. Mulvihill had been in failing health for the past two months, and her condition had been critical for the last week.

Mrs. Mulvihill, the former Julia Agnes Cunningham, was born in Crawford township, Dec. 11, 1860, the daughter of John and Julia Cahill Cunningham, pioneer settlers who came to this county from Wisconsin in 1855. She continued to reside in Crawford township until her marriage to James Mulvihill on Nov. 9, 1896. They went to housekeeping on the Mulvihill farm in Lee township and this place continued to be her home until her death. Mr. and Mrs. Mulvihill were the parents of one son James J. Mulvihill, who lives on the farm in Lee township. The husband and father was killed in a train accident at Cumming Oct. 21, 1926.

The deceased was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s church and took an active interest in the affairs of the church and community, as long as her health would permit.

Survivors of Mrs. Mulvihill include her son and his wife, one sister, Mrs. T. Walter Beam of Winterset, and eight grandchildren, Jim, Jack, Dan Mark, Bobbie Jo, Sheila and Suzanne Mulvihill, all on the home farm, and Mrs. Dan Phelan of Farrar. Two brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.

Solemn high mass for Mrs. Mulvihill was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Lee township, Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, with the Rev. Charles Phelan of St. Mary’s serving as celebrant, the Rev. J. J. Judge of Winterset as deacon and the Rev. P. P. Curtain of Churchville as sub deacon. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
